SPC or glue-down LVT: where to start?

A practical LaFloor guide

Published by LaFloorGeneral guidance to prepare a discussion with an installer.

Names do not describe the whole system

SPC describes a type of rigid core. LVT is a broader vinyl flooring term; here we compare click SPC with flexible glue-down vinyl.

Installation and subfloor

A glue-down system bonds the material to the subfloor. In a floating system, boards connect with click joints. Both require preparation according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

Questions before choosing

Check build-up height, subfloor, temperature conditions and intended use. Choose for the actual product and room, rather than the acronym on the packaging.

General guidance does not replace the product’s instructions or an on-site subfloor assessment.
